Re: [OT] Google Workspace free edition ending soon

I had a few bounce backs from the list peior to David’s mailman update so sending this again in case people didn’t receive it… Some good news here about google workspace free edition. Google are now offering you to continue with the free version if not used for business purposes. You just need to opt out of the upgrade. Hi folks,
Some of you may know the free edition of Google Workspace is ending soon and we are now forced to upgrade to a paid version. I only set this up over 10 years ago as it was free and allowed me to have a custom domain for private use. I only use it for emails.
Is anybody here in a similar position and planning to move away to another service? Any recommendations? I simply wish to keep my emails, in their current folder / label structure, and custom domain name.
I assume one option is to connect my local Outlook to gmail and download all my emails and then upload them to another service? Could take a while - I have like 10GB of emails.

I ended up moving my Google photos, and other things out of my Workspace and into a normal @gmail account. So much Google stuff just doesn't work against Workspace accounts - like sharing resources for Google Home with other people etc. I'd like to move all my data out of workspace but Google takeout is useless. It exports incomplete data into an arbitrary XML format and there is no way to re-import the data anywhere on the other end.

Ditto. We have a weekly 4-person Zoom meeting and share a single docx to scribble in. The conveener moved the docx to his personal account drive and cancelled the old Workspace account (he had it for so long he forgot what it was). Google's marketing and advertising around this issue is rather confusing, but who cares, we're back to normal -- *Greg K*
